Well, we went and looked at a house today. Here are the basics :
2 car garage
a/c in living room and 2 out of 3 bedrooms
and it's within our housing allowance.
It's in a great location - close to work for McGyver, close to school for Princess Trouble and the school district that it's in is one of the best public school districts on the island, and it's close to the highway so we can head down to Honolulu whenever we want to and not have to worry about traffic.
Now the nitty gritty...
The kitchen is BIG. Wide open with a small dining area/bay window. PLENTY of counter space as well as lots of storage space. Nice appliances.
The MBR is decent sized and has a nice BIG closet - semi-walk-in closet - and it's own bathroom. The 2nd BR is small but not tiny, especially by Hawaii standards. The 3rd BR is HUGE and has it's own bathroom as well. However, the 3rd BR does not have a/c or a ceiling fan but we'll probably fix that. The living room is nice sized and should accommodate our furniture well. There is a closet in the living room and a small linen closet in the hall, across from the hall bathroom. The garage is, well, a garage.
The yard is small and has more concrete than grass but it DOES have grass and the concrete will allow Princess Trouble to ride her bike (once we get one for her). It's a corner lot and the neighborhood is quiet.
And the added bonus is that the property manager/landlord is the same guy that came so highly recommended by McGyver's co-worker. The current tenants said that they have been quite pleased with him as well. The utilities will run a little less than what I had planned so that's a bonus as well.
I'm not sure when it will be available for us to move in but I suspect the beginning of May which is ok. As long as there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
